New Delhi: Apple released its latest iOS version for iPhone users earlier this week, allowing them to unlock their iPhone with Face ID while wearing a mask. The government has now issued a warning urging iPhone users to upgrade their devices as soon as possible to protect themselves from “many vulnerabilities found in Apple products”. The emergency response system also rates the severity as “high” due to several of these deficiencies.

According to the advice, vulnerabilities detected in Apple products allow the attacker to get superior privileges, run arbitrary code on the infected user’s iPhone, expose personal information and avoid security restrictions on the targeted computer. According to the release, these vulnerabilities in Apple products include memory boot issues, over-reading and writing, memory corruption, type confusion, post-free usage, null pointer deviation, authentication, cookie management issues, and verification issues. The remote attacker can take advantage of these flaws by convincing the victim to open a specially designed file or application. According to CERT-In, if these vulnerabilities are used effectively, it may allow the attacker to gain higher privileges and run arbitrary coding on the victim’s Apple device, thus bypassing the on-site security system.

These include iOS and iPad versions prior to iOS 15.4, WatchOS before 8.5, Apple tvOS before 15.4, Apple iTunes for Windows before 12.12.3, macOS before Monterey 12.3, Apple TV software before 7.9, Logic Pro to Logic Pro .
